Catie and Jane’s New York City Elopement + Reception at 620 Loft and Garden

Elopements, Weddings

Whether it’s a courthouse ceremony with just a few witnesses or a big celebration with everyone you love, your wedding doesn’t have to follow a single format to be meaningful or stunning. Catie and Jane’s wedding shows that sentiment so well – the two pulled together such a beautiful mix of tradition and intention, and I was obsessed with how it all came together.

Catie and Jane’s New York City Elopement Ceremony:

Catie and Jane kicked things off with an intimate ceremony at the City Clerk’s office in New York City. They wanted that classic courthouse feel — simple, genuine, and all about the two of them. No fluff. Just love. It was such a privilege to document these quiet, heartfelt moments as they officially said “I do.”

For their ceremony looks, Catie wore a Mara Hoffman ensemble with Christian Louboutin shoes (it was so her), and Jane wore Theory with Chloe heels. Both outfits felt completely true to who they are. This is exactly why I always tell couples: wear something that feels like you. Don’t overthink it. If it’s perfect for your vibe, it’s perfect. And these two nailed it.

As for the coolest part of their ceremony — their witness was none other than fashion icon Diane von Furstenberg. Jane had worked as Diane’s private chef for years, traveling the world with her, so having her be a part of the ceremony wasn’t just special — it was full circle. That’s the kind of personal touch that makes a wedding day unforgettable.

We had a proper small celebration as they exited the NYC City Hall with some of Catie and Jane’s closest family. The celebration was complete with love, confetti, and champagne straight out of the bottle.

Of course, no New York City elopement is complete without stopping to take some portraits through the city, as we did on the way back to the hotel. We were able to capture some film shots and find some great NYC locations for a quick photoshoot.

Catie and Jane’s New York City Wedding Reception at 620 Loft and Garden:

Before joining their guests, Catie and Jane shared a quiet moment together to get ready side by side — just the two of them. It was one of my favorite parts of the day. Sometimes those little unscheduled pauses are where the best memories live. If you’re planning your wedding, I highly recommend carving out even just ten minutes to breathe together before the party starts. It makes everything that follows feel even more grounded.

They changed into fresh looks for the party — Catie wore a Cult Gaia feather dress (SO fun) with Christian Louboutin shoes again, and Jane wore a Black Halo jumpsuit with Theory shoes. I love when couples switch it up for the reception. It’s such a fun way to mark the shift in the energy of the day and let loose a little. Plus, that feather dress? I’m still not over it.

After portraits around the city (truly one of my favorite things to do after a courthouse ceremony), Catie and Jane headed to their reception at 620 Loft and Garden at Rockefeller Center. This venue is one of the most stunning wedding spots in New York — open-air rooftop garden, skyline views, and that classic NYC feel. It was such a beautiful backdrop for their celebration, and honestly, it couldn’t have suited them better.

Why 620 Loft and Garden is One of My Favorite NYC Wedding Venues:

When I say this space is perfect for a celebration, I mean it. The rooftop feels tucked away and spacious all at once, with just enough room for your people without feeling too big. The views alone are reason enough to fall in love with this spot, but it also has this amazing mix of elegance and city energy that’s hard to beat. If you’re looking for a wedding venue in NYC that offers a stunning backdrop and an intimate feel, 620 Loft and Garden should absolutely be on your list.

Catie and Jane’s New York City Wedding Reception:

The reception itself was full of exactly what you hope for — sentimental toasts, a cozy dinner with their closest people, and a dance floor that actually got used (music and lighting by Dynamic Productions USA). The whole evening felt like a true celebration of who Catie and Jane are, individually and together. It was joyful, heartfelt, and full of love in every single corner of the room.

Tips If You’re Planning a New York Courthouse Wedding (and Want to Celebrate After)

  • You can have a courthouse ceremony and a party. There are no rules. If a small, private “I do” feels right for you, start there — and build out the rest of the day however you want.
  • Choose a venue that fits your vibe. Rooftop gardens, intimate restaurants, stylish lofts — NYC has endless options. Find something that feels right for you.
  • Outfits don’t need to match, they just need to feel like you. Comfort, confidence, and personality over everything.
  • Build in time for portraits. Whether it’s walking through the city or finding a quiet spot before the reception, these are the moments that often turn into the photos you’ll love the most.
  • Give yourself time to enjoy. Don’t feel like you need to follow a strict schedule — leave space to be present.

Let this day go to show you that your wedding truly can be whatever you want to make it. If you want a courthouse wedding or an intimate ceremony, you can do that and still throw a big party to celebrate with your favorite people. Combining elements from a traditional wedding day to make it special for you and your partner is what weddings are all about.
